Clinical Case Management Intern at our Attleboro Center
The Attleboro Center is an acute residential treatment program providing inpatient psychiatric treatment to males and females ages 12-18. The program is designed as an alternative to psychiatric hospitalization with the goal of assisting youth and their families achieve psychiatric stabilization and receive appropriate, supportive aftercare. Its mission is to serve adolescents who present with acute psychiatric issues and behaviors, and transition them back into the community as quickly as possible.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
General Duties and Responsibilities:
- Dress appropriately and be punctual.
- Notify your supervisor if you are unable to keep your schedule.
- Participate in supervision meetings as scheduled.
- Reinforce the program rules and expectations by modeling positive social interactions and reactions.
- Keep a record of your service hours on the posted form at the program
Specific Responsibilities:
- Assist clinical staff with case management duties and administrative tasks including, but not limited to, collateral contacts, arranging aftercare services, assisting with the implementation of assessment tools, case coordination with funders / managed care companies and coordination of clinical and program paperwork.
- Facilitate or co-facilitate weekly psycho-educational group for clients.
- Attendance of multidisciplinary team meetings and family/ systems meetings (as applicable).
- Build rapport with program youth through 1:1 interaction and participation in their milieu services under the guidance of the shift supervisor.
- Be a role model/mentor.
Qualifications (Education and Experience):
- Participation in a degree program and coordination with your school’s intern/field placement advisor.
- Excellent communication skills (written, in person and on phone).
- Sensitivity to the challenges of adolescents and ability to relate to them.
- Ability to promote a caring and respectful attitude toward clients, staff and other volunteers, respecting privacy and confidentiality.
- Interns should have an interest in – and sensitivity toward - the population that this program serves. Community Care Services requires a Criminal Offender Record Investigation (CORI) which may take 2 weeks for some programs. Other requirements include Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training, as well as tuberculosis screening at some programs. We will arrange for completion of all your requirements.
