The Attleboro Center is a 12-bed Community Based Acute Treatment (CBAT) facility located in Attleboro, Massachusetts.  The program provides acute psychiatric stabilization services to adolescents between the ages of 12-18 years.  The program is currently offering internship opportunities in the following areas:

Special Education Intern at Attleboro Center

The Attleboro Center offers an abbreviated yet comprehensive on-site tutoring program for all its service recipients.  The tutoring program is facilitated by a certified classroom teacher and is conducted Monday through Friday from 9:00-11:00 am during the regular school year.  We are seeking student interns who would be available to assist with the facilitation of daily tutoring as well as be available to provide individual tutoring/academic assistance to residents in the program.

The special education internship position will provide students with the opportunity to:

  • Work with a diverse adolescent population with a range of psychiatric and behavioral needs.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of lesson plans.
  • Learn and utilize effective behavior management techniques in a classroom setting.
  • Provide individual tutoring to residents requiring additional assistance.

Group Facilitator(s) at Attleboro Center

The Attleboro Center is looking to increase the diversity of daily milieu groups that are offered to its service recipients throughout the year.  We currently offer groups in self-esteem, substance abuse education and prevention, boys and girls heath, group psychotherapy, art therapy, and creative writing.  In an effort to expand our group curriculum, we are looking for student interns who may have an interest in facilitating groups of this nature, as well as students who have strengths/interests in other areas such as yoga, writing, relaxation, menu planning and meal preparation, life skills for the young adult, theater/art, and sports.

There is no minimum/maximum number of hours needed to commit.  The Attleboro Center is flexible in working with student interns to best meet the needs of the program and allow the students flexibility with their academic schedules.

Qualifications: Interns should have an interest in – and sensitivity toward - the population that this program serves.  Community Care Services requires a Criminal Offender Record Investigation (CORI) which may take 2 weeks for some programs. Other requirements include Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training, as well as tuberculosis screening at some programs. We will arrange for completion of all your requirements.
