Hillside Adult Day Health Program Intern
If you wish to work in a caring environment with frail elders and disabled adults and would like to better understand the effects of aging on a diverse population, Hillside Adult Day Health Program provides a wonderful learning opportunity. Each participant is provided with an array of services such as the opportunity for socialization, peer interaction, health assessment and education, medication management and encouragement to reach and maintain maximum independence. Hillside also provides a memory disorder unit that is a calm, safe environment and provides specialized care for those with memory impairments. Along with this our service recipients and their families receive support, respite and education.
Hillside Adult Day Health Center offers a variety of learning and growth opportunities for interns:
This is an excellent opportunity for students looking for an idea of what it is like to work in a medical/social service setting while getting support from a great and knowledgeable staff. We encourage interns to bring their ideas and talents to share with the Hillside participants and families.
Qualifications: Interns should have an interest in – and sensitivity toward - the population that this program serves. Community Care Services requires a Criminal Offender Record Investigation (CORI) which may take 2 weeks for some programs. Other requirements include Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training, as well as tuberculosis screening at some programs. We will arrange for completion of all your requirements.
Community Care Services, the parent organization of Hillside, is a large, nonprofit human services agency with thirty very diverse programs located throughout Southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island. The agency has over 450 employees and 250 volunteers, including interns. Please visit our web site, www.communitycareservices.org to learn more about the agency.
