STARR Residential Program Intern Position Description

Stabilization, assessment and rapid reunification (STARR) are the primary components of this 24-hour, 7-days-a-week residential setting for adolescent male and female youth referred by the Department of Children and Families.  A range of clinical, educational, diagnostic and daily living services will be provided for each youth in the program.  Service recipients can remain in placement up to 45 days with the goal of returning to the community with therapeutic supports in place.

Some of the learning and growth opportunities within Community Care Services that an intern in the STARR Program would experience are:

Qualifications: Interns should have an interest in – and sensitivity toward - the population that this program serves.  Community Care Services requires a Criminal Offender Record Investigation (CORI) which may take 2 weeks for some programs. Other requirements include Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training, as well as tuberculosis screening at some programs.  We will arrange for completion of all your requirements.

Community Care Services, the parent organization of STARR, is a large, nonprofit human services agency with thirty very diverse programs located throughout Southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island.  The agency has over 450 employees and 250 volunteers, including interns.  Please visit our web site, www.communitycareservices.org to learn more about the agency.
