SCORE Peer Mediation Program
SCORE Program is committed to students helping students resolve disputes peacefully. The student mediators complete a comprehensive twenty-two hour training conducted by our SCORE Coordinator in the skills of mediation - listening, questioning and facilitating. This empowering model provides students with the skills necessary to help their peers resolve problems that could quickly escalate to violence. Mediation is voluntary, neutral and confidential. The student mediators listen to all sides of the dispute, and help parties to arrive at a mutually acceptable resolution. Student Conflict Resolution Experts (SCORE) programs are funded by the public school served by the program and by the Office of the Attorney General.

Taunton Youth Court
Taunton Youth Court is a new and innovative juvenile delinquency prevention program offered by Community Care Services. The program, located at Taunton High School, is an alternative to suspension for students committing certain minor, non-violent offenses. Students are trained in all the traditional roles of a Court, (i.e. attorneys, jurors, clerk, and bailiff). An adult judge monitors the proceeding as student jurors decide on sanctions for student defendants based on the principles of restorative justice. Please visit the web site, www.youthcourt.net to learn about how youth courts are the fast growing juvenile delinquency prevention program in the United States.
As an intern in Taunton Youth Court, you would learn case management techniques for at-risk adolescents and their families, and develop behavior intervention plans. You would learn short-term and long-term counseling techniques, program evaluation methods, data collection, and maintenance of case files. This is an opportunity to assist in training of youth and adults in Youth Court operations and procedures, and interact with criminal justice professionals and agencies.
Interns should be able to commit to 16-24 hours per week. If you wish, time may be split between the Taunton Youth Court and Peer Mediation programs at Taunton High School. Programs can be flexible with your schedule.
